How it all started
This isn’t your ordinary product collection. Bettina draws her inspiration from a very personal source. Since the birth of her daughter in 2012, she has had a fascination for children's interiors.
Amazed at how beautiful these rooms can be, and how they can be tiny universes with a little bit of magic where children can express their imagination — she styled her kid’s rooms with exactly this in mind. The one item she was still looking for, but couldn’t find, was a high-end but playful rug to finish off the look. Either too small, or made from polypropylene or plastic, there was nothing out there that suited her distinctive style, taste, and love for beautiful materials. Having always dreamt about starting her own product line, it felt like this was meant to be: create her own playful rug collection to add that final touch to any room, and completely bring a space to life. Other products like the mirrors followed.
The inspiration
Colorful and with attitude. That was a must for every product. Each piece needed to portray a feeling, a memory, a place where little ones can dive deep into their adventures, where they can be themselves. And what best describes this feeling, then the feeling of a vacation. Hazy days with a little bit of magic.
The creation process needed some time to come to maturity. Slowly, but surely, digging into the design process, Bettina combined her eye for design, intuition for trends, and love for vacation, and from there came an inspiring collection of one-of-a-kind, colorful, playful products. For every type of (little) adventurer. The bright blues, the pinks, the yellows, and the burnt reds are colors inspired by the beautiful shades of summer. All items give you an instant holiday feeling and will truly be a statement piece in any (kids) interior.
The production
STUDIO VACAY aims to deliver beautiful products which the company is completely sure that it comes from somewhere good. In this industry, and in many others, brands are manufacturing the simplest of products in places where labor is cheap, and the conditions are tragic. This is something STUDIO VACAY can not stand for and will not be a part of. That’s why our production takes place in a decent place by sincere people. Who receive a normal salary and work in good conditions. It feels good, knowing that the people we work with have the materials, knowledge, experience, skills, and the freedom to work on the standard that STUDIO VACAY holds dear. Resulting in an honest, durable, and beautiful collection, with an outstanding quality we are extremely proud of.
